In the film, “Arrival”, director, Denis Villeneuve uses Cinematography and editing to convey his message. Learn to appreciate what you have before time makes you appreciate what you had. The uses of elements help illustrate Villeneuve’s purpose. In the film. Louise has flash backs and flash-forwards about her daughter Hannah.
Alien species has landed around 12 different random areas around the world. Louise learns the language of the aliens. The language gave her the ability to have flash-forwards and flash-backs of her life.
Villeneuve also uses Cinematography to convey his message by showing flash forwards of Louise cherishing her daughter Hannah, knowing her daughter will die unavoidably.
Villeneuve uses editing in the scene were Louise realized that the Aliens language was not “linear” she began to realize that the alien’s language gave her the ability to have visions of the future. That allowed Louise to have a choice that would affect her future tremendously.

Cinematography and editing effectively to deliver his message. Villeneuve
demonstrated his message by showing Louise cherish her daughter Hannah, knowing
Hannah will die at a young age.
